Playing is a child’s work everyday. Even if you can see him running around the house giggling, he is playing. Some toys are uninteresting to adults, but these toys are a wonderland for children. Toys actually help develop the child’s intelligence and perception of how things work. Toys also teach kids how to interact with other kids.

By letting kids play with him or playing with other kids, your child is learning how to be sociable. Parents should carefully choose toys which have no tiny parts that can choke the child. This is why parents have to watch over their children even at play. Children under 8 months especially love toys that make rattling sounds and toys that are colorful. Once the child reaches 12 to 18 months, he is starting to get to know how to use her fingers, arms and legs. Placing the right shapes inside the right holes will develop his motor skills and intellectual skills. Object books will also teach him the names of the different things in his surroundings. You will realize that after some time, the child would be able to recognize the different things around the house. Although he may still not be able to pronounce the words, yet you know that he recognizes the things because each time he sees them, he will point to them and get excited.
